TLIF0006: Administer A Fatigue Risk Management

The TLIF0006: Administer A Fatigue Risk Management System Course is required for those who supervise drivers or schedulers (or wish to) under Basic Fatigue Management (BFM) or Advanced Fatigue Management (AFM) under the National Heavy Vehicle Accreditation Scheme. This training is nationally recognised (accredited training) and meets all requirements of the TLIF0006 Unit of Competency. As of the 1st July 2018 this unit took over the Training Requirements for the Fatigue Management Module for the Accreditation Scheme (BFM and AFM).
If you are currently operating under a BFM or AFM accreditation you do not need to complete the new course. Courses completed prior to 1 July 2018 that will continue to be recognised (if currently operating) are: TLIF6307A TLIF3063A TLIF3063.
This course is economically priced at just $180, which is much cheaper and more convenient than the face to face version, taking approximately 6 hours to complete online.
Course Outline
The ‘Schedulers NHVAS Fatigue Management Level 2’ course will provide you with the skills and knowledge required for road transport schedulers or supervisors/managers to administer a fatigue risk management system within the Transport and Logistics industry and operate under National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR) Fatigue Management Accreditation*.
You will be able to identify and manage risks associated with fatigue during heavy vehicle driving and develop and implement policies, procedures and strategies to minimise fatigue in the workplace. On completion of the ‘Schedulers NHVAS Fatigue Management Level 2’ course, you will be able to:
- Manage heavy vehicle driver fatigue strategies
- Operate within a road transport fatigue risk management system
- Schedule work and rest hours in compliance with a road transport fatigue risk management system
- Plan and navigate a heavy vehicle trip, and
- Update and maintain records
This course is a necessary requirement if you are a road transport scheduler or drivers’ supervisor/manager operating (or wishing to operate) under Basic Fatigue Management (BFM) or Advanced Fatigue Management (AFM) under the National Heavy Vehicle Accreditation Scheme*
To complete your Drivers Schedulers NHVAS Fatigue Management Level 2 course online, you will need a webcam (for identity verification purposes), as well as basic computer skills and English language, literacy and numeracy skills. We’ll step you through each part of the course and if you follow the instructions, it is a simple process!
Once you have completed the course content modules, you will need to complete the final assessments, which include a Case Study Assessment and a Practical Assessment.
- The Case Study Assessment will present several short case studies and ask a series of supporting questions to demonstrate how you apply your understanding of fatigue management to realistic scenarios. The questions require a short, typed response.
- The Practical Assessment will ask you to submit example workplace documentation (such as driving plans) to demonstrate how you are using specific tools in the workplace.
Once you have passed each of the final assessments, you will receive a confirmation email containing your Statement of Attainment. If you do not pass an assessment, you will receive detailed feedback and be asked to re-submit specific answers or documents.

System Requirements
In order for you to do this course online, you will need to meet some mandatory ID confirmation requirements imposed by the regulator. These are the same for all TLIF0005 & TLIF0006 course providers:
- Upload a copy of your current photo ID
- Complete the Online training modules
- Ensure your internet connection is strong and your webcam is working
- Complete your assessments (while your webcam captures regular images that will be compared to your photo ID to confirm your identity)
Pre-requisite Requirements
There are no pre-requisite requirements for this course.
National Recognition
The ‘Schedulers NHVAS Fatigue Management Level 2’ course is delivered by Urban E-Learning Pty Ltd (RTO #31973). The course addresses the requirements of ‘TLIF0006 Administer a fatigue risk management system’ from the TLI Transport and Logistics Training Package, which is a necessary requirement to operate under National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR) Fatigue Management Accreditation*.
On completion of the course, you will receive a Nationally Recognised Statement of Attainment which is recognised throughout Australia. This Statement of Attainment will also give you a credit towards completion of 4 other qualifications:
- TLI42116 – Certificate IV in Driving Operations
- TLI42016 – Certificate IV in Logistics
- TLI40118 – Certificate IV in Transport Scheduling, and
- TLI50415 – Diploma of Logistics
Language, Literacy or Numeracy Skills (LLN)
Students will need to have sound English language, literacy and numeracy skills in order to complete the course and assessments. If a student is unsure whether they have the minimum language, literacy or numeracy skills to complete one of our courses, they can take an LLN pre-training assessment here before they enrol in the course. The test will help the student to check whether they can read, write, calculate or speak well enough to do the training and assessment.
*Being awarded this unit of competency is a necessary requirement to operate under National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR) Fatigue Management Accreditation but is only one of the criteria. Prospective applicants should check with the NHVR before undertaking training and/or assessment.
