Need for Basic Fatigue Management

It is alleged that one third of all road crashes in Oz are caused by drivers that are so tired that they fell asleep on the wheel.

A video on Seven News examines the impact that driver fatigue has on families.

The video looks at the story of a young woman killed due to fatigue when her car hit into a tree near her home and caught fire, causing her to be incinerated in the blaze. Her parents are now advocating for awareness around this crucial issue.

A new study by a researcher at The University of NSW is shedding light on fatigue in hopes to better manage this problem. Driving while fatigued is just as dangerous as speeding or driving while intoxicated, yet people don’t regard fatigue in the same category, which is a mistake.

While new technology has been developed that can help drivers avoid driving while fatigued but it is said this technology will take another decade to reach the everyday Australian and in the meantime lives will continue to be lost unless people make the right decision to avoid driving while fatigued.
